Cardiovascular disease claims a life every 34 seconds in the U.S. alone (CDC), and it is often found only after it has progressed. Every heartbeat leaves subtle vibrations on the body surface, and we are building new ways to read them. We turn ordinary smartphone cameras into contactless sensors that capture heart-induced chest vibrations from video (visionSCG), develop affordable vibration-based tools that address barriers behind cardiovascular health disparities (equiHeart), and build digital twins of the human thorax from CT and MR images that show where these vibrations come from and what they reveal about the heart (twinHeart). We also simulate blood flow in patient-specific arteries to help physicians plan treatments (flowCare). Starting from the heart and extending to breathing and swallowing, we work with clinical and industry partners to bring early, accessible, and personalized care to everyone, at the bedside and at home.

We develop a technology that transforms ordinary smartphone cameras into cardiac imaging tools, enabling the extraction of key cardiac health metrics from simple chest videos.
We are dedicated to developing innovative and noninvasive methods for monitoring and early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases by measuring and analyzing cardiovascular-induced vibrations on the body surface.
Learn MoreAli is developing cardiovascular digital twins through computational modeling. These models aim to simulate and predict cardiovascular signals and parameters across various conditions, enabling new diagnostic methods.
Muntasir is developing contactless methods to measure the vibrations generated by the cardiac activities such as valve opening and closure, facilitating noninvasive gathering of critical diagnostic information.
