DC-Motor Servomechanism

This servosystem is typical of the controlled motors found on robots, and many types of automated devices. In this experiment, the angular position of an inertial load on the shaft of a field-controlled DC motor is to follow a low-power electrical reference signal as closely as possible.

Control techniques studied:

  • Open-loop performance evaluation
  • Time-domain identification of the motor transfer function
  • Position feedback control design
  • Velocity feedback control design
