Date and Time: Tuesday/Thursday: 1:35 PM - 4:15 PM

Location: PA 450 - Classroom

PA 564 - Laboratory

Prerequisites: ME 121

Course Description:

The objective of the Controls Section of the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory III (ME 207) is to carry out simple experiments on dynamic control systems. Through these experiments the students are exposed to different stages of control design: modeling, transfer function derivation, feedback control design based on time-domain specifications, closed-loop simulation, implementation. Emphasis is placed on the comparison of simulation predictions with actual experimental data.

Experiments:

MEM05: Qube Servo - DC motor

MEM06: Qube Servo - Rotary pendulum

Safety:

Use caution when actuating the experiments. Keep hands and hair clear of all moving parts! The apparatus can move erratically if control signals are lost or incorrect.

Safety glasses are to be worn whenever working in the lab.

Do not horseplay or misuse the equipment in the lab.

Do not eat or drink in the lab.
