Ph.D. Student Positions – Spring/Fall 2026

Taebi Lab will move to Lehigh University in August 2025. We are looking for multiple highly motivated Ph.D. students with an interest in biomedical signal processing and biomedical instrumentation to join us. Our lab focuses on developing early diagnosis methods and personalized treatments for cardiovascular diseases. Learn more about our research here.

  • Applicants should have an M.Sc. in Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields (strong B.Sc. candidates may be considered).
  • Required: experience in biomedical signal processing and developing ML models.
  • Required: proficiency in MATLAB or Python.
  • Strong communication skills for working with medical collaborators.
Funding

These are fully funded PhD positions. Tuition will be fully covered by the Taebi Lab or the Department of Bioengineering at Lehigh University.

Selection Process

Review begins Aug 15, 2025. Top 20 candidates will be interviewed in September, and the top 10 invited to submit a formal application to the PhD program in Bioengineering at Lehigh. Ultimately, 2–3 students will join our lab.

Ph.D. Student Position - Fall 2023

We are looking for a highly motivated Ph.D. student with an interest in computational fluid dynamics and finite element modeling to join Taebi Lab at Mississippi State University. Our lab focuses on developing early diagnosis methods and personalized treatments for cardiovascular diseases. Learn more about our research here.

Applicants should have an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related areas. Strong applicants with a B.Sc. degree will be considered too. Previous experience in developing CFD/FE simulations in ANSYS or similar software is required. Proficiency in MATLAB or Python programming is a big plus. The successful applicant will pursue a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering to develop intelligent and patient-specific solutions for the earlier detection of cardiovascular diseases. This position requires communication and interaction with our medical collaborators.

Postdoc Position

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in deep learning and f{biomedical signal processing and/or video processing} to join Taebi Lab at Mississippi State University. Our lab will open its doors in August 2021 and will focus on developing early diagnosis methods and personalized treatments for different types of cardiovascular diseases and cancer. The initial appointment will be for one year starting Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 and can be renewed upon the availability of funding and mutual agreement.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering. Expertise in deep learning, {signal processing and/or image processing, and computer vision} is required. Knowledge of acoustic signal processing is preferred. The successful applicant will work with the Departments of Agricultural and Biological Engineering to develop image-based medical decision-making solutions. Specifically, the project aims at developing novel methods for earlier detection of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. This position requires communication and interaction with our medical collaborators.
