TRAC (Technology, Research, and Communication) is a writing support program at Lehigh University
that is staffed by peer writing tutors (fellows) who work with students at all stages of the writing
process.
Fellows are assigned to specific courses and work with the same group of students over a semester to
provide personalized feedback and support for writing assignments.
Fellows do not grade student papers, nor do they play any other role in determining grades.

Key Ideas

each word below to learn more
Writing Promotes intellectual engagement, active learning, and critical thinking
When individuals write, they are forced to clarify their thinking by putting their ideas into
words.
This process requires them to engage with the subject matter on a deeper level and to develop a
more thorough understanding of the topic.
It also enables individuals to communicate their ideas and knowledge effectively.
Peer
Collaboration One of the most effective and efficient methods of learning
When motivated peers come together in focused effort toward a common end the results
improve—both in terms of the work produced and what is learned in the process.
While collaborating students engage in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and
teamwork. These are all skills that are highly valuable.
Lifelong
Pursuit Writing is never completely mastered, not by anyone.
Writing is a constantly evolving skill that requires continuous learning and development as
language and personal perspectives change over time.
A better writer is a not only a better communicator, but a better thinker as well, and there’s
always room for improvement.
Academic
Discipline Writing and communication are central to learning in all disciplines.
All academic disciplines and their related professions have their own special kinds of writing
that require special skills.
Everyone can benefit from the process of getting feedback and engaging in dialogue about their
writing with smart and helpful readers.
