I’m a sociologist in the Sociology and Anthropology Department at Lehigh University and author of Abortion Politics (Polity 2018) and The Making of Pro-Life Activists (Chicago 2009).  My research and teaching are in social movements, political sociology, and the sociology of religion.  Beyond the abortion debate, I’ve published research on the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, civic engagement in the United States, conservative political organizing on college campuses, and international terrorism.  My current research project focuses on the changing political landscape of suburban America.
