Exercise?

Not really, do I look like I exercise? To become averagely active, in 2012 I took up bike riding, sticking as much as possible to paths like the Saucon Rail Trail and flat terrain around Center Valley, Goodman and Hellertown. In 2015 my biking mentor Heather decided it was time to drag my tail up big bumps like South Mountain and Chestnut Hill, of all places. Before long I was doing group rides with the Wheelmen and Genesis. I’m not a particularly strong rider, C+ at best - for big hills like Sally Ann and Centennial I am always last to finish the climb.

Fun rides include St. Luke's Hospice, Donut Derby, Gap Gallop, Vello-Valley Vistas, Omaha Corporate Cycling Challenge, and my favorite, Gale’s Tour de Tush.

But mostly I ride solo, averaging 22 miles/ride over the years. To verify if conditions are reasonable and sufficient daylight remains to ride, I check Outside, my personal OpenWeather widget:

Bike Computers

Note that accurate mileage data began in 2001, The Year Of The CatEye bike computer.  2016 was a marvelous upgrade to a Garmin Edge 1000 that could track rides and provide turn-by-turn navigation from GPX/TCX route files. Like so many other folks, I sometimes need to tweak my Edge’s device and trip odometers, but there’s no easy way to do that on a Mac. So I wrote Edit Edge Data, a binary FIT editor that’s available on the Mac App Store, and which you can learn about here.

Now there's an easy way to do that on a Mac.   Edit Edge Data has been tested on FIT files from these Edge Bike Computers :

    Edge 130

    Edge 520

    Edge 820 Touring

Edge 830 (Note: this device does not support odometer_rollover, so distance is limited to 42,949.67295 km)

    Edge 1000

    Edge 1030

    Edge 1030 Plus

    Edge 1040 Solar
