  • Class exams (50 points) There will be 4 in class exams (and a comprehensive final during finals week). The final is optional. If you miss an exam the final will replace the exam.
  • Practical exams (20 points) There will be 4 exams in which you are required to identify anatomical structures in the lab. Each of these is worth 5 points.
  • Lab reports (20 points) There will be 4 lab reports worth 5 points each. These reports will summarize 4 experiments that are designed and conducted by lab groups. Each lab report must include the following sections: Introduction, methods, results and discussion.
  • Group projects (10 points total)
    • Work on 4 lab projects (crime lab, special senses, immunology and digestion) will be prepared in groups and will be worth 1 point each.
    • A class debate will be held in the middle of the semester on a controversial topic (2 points).
    • Each group will design and execute a project on behavior 2 points for the presentation and 2 points for the paper.
  • Thanksgiving report This is an optional report on digestion to be done over the Thanksgiving holidays. It should be written as a lab report (hypothesis is optional and can be replaced with a scholarly description of the history of choice of traditional thanksgiving foods. Include all the foods eaten at the thanksgiving meal and estimation of their caloric content and a description of the digestive processes involved in their utilization.
