First: it can refer to the communication, or sometimes non-communication, of international affairs by U.S. news media. Typically this is called foreign correspondence. 

Second, international communication can refer to communication practices and systems in nations around the world. Typically this is called global journalism. 

Each meaning of international communication has great interest and importance. We'll explore both.

Our objectives then are: 

1) To help you understand the social, political and economic contexts surrounding the practice of journalism, especially the ways in which U.S. news media cover the world. 

2) To introduce you to different practices and systems of journalism and mass media in nations around the world.

3) Because you are taking an online class, you inenvitably will learn about . . . learning. You will be able to compare online and traditional learning. You will learn about how you learn.
