New Bus Routes - Updates Based on Feedback

Thank you to everyone on campus who has ridden the new bus routes this week and provided feedback about your experience. We value your input as we test this pilot program and adjust to best meet the needs of our students, faculty, and staff.

Updates based on feedback:

  • We’re adjusting the Goodman Express so that it will stop at Saucon Village - giving Saucon Village residents another option, in addition to the transfer at Mountaintop, for transportation to the Asa Packer campus (additional details below).
  • A listing of bus stops has been added to our Transportation website for each route as well as departure times for the main stops. Please note that departure times are estimates and may fluctuate based on traffic and weather. Please use the live bus tracker for exact bus timing: bus.lehigh.edu or the DoubleMap app.
  • Maps for each route are being finalized and will be posted to the Transportation website and incorporated into additional signage.

We’ve summarized the feedback we’ve heard below into common themes and how we are actively addressing each of them.

What we’ve heard: Riders would like to know when to expect buses at certain bus stops.

What we’re doing: We’ve added estimated departure times for key campus stops to the Transportation website. However, please note that these times may fluctuate based on traffic and weather and are for general planning purposes only. For real-time bus tracking, please visit bus.lehigh.edu or download the DoubleMap app.

What we’ve heard: Riders would like to have all of the bus stop locations listed and would like to have maps to reference.

What we’re doing: Bus stop locations may be found on the real-time bus tracker (bus.lehigh.edu) or on the Doublemap app. We have also added the list of bus stops for each route on our Transportation website.

What we’ve heard: Saucon Village residents would like more service to Asa Packer campus in addition to the transfer option.

What we’re doing: The Goodman Express is being adjusted to meet this need. Effective Monday, January 30, 2023, the Goodman Express will include the Saucon Village bus stop.  The first departure from Saucon Village is 6:50 AM and the last arrival is 10:50 PM. The bus will depart Saucon Village every 40 minutes and stop at the Goodman campus on its way to and from the Asa Packer Campus.

For this 15 minute service to Goodman Campus, Goodman campus passengers can expect the bus to arrive at the Cundey Varsity House every 40 minutes beginning at 6:55 AM to go back to the Asa Packer campus. The bus will depart the Asa Packer campus (beginning at Whitaker Lab) every 40 minutes beginning at 7:10 AM to go to the Cundey Varsity House. The actual travel time to and from the Goodman and Asa Packer Campuses will remain approximately 15 minutes.

Final departure from Saucon Village will be 10:10 PM and final departure from Whitaker Lab will be at 10:30 PM.

Saucon Village passengers can also get to/from the Asa Packer campus and Saucon Village by transferring at Iacocca Hall.

We also heard the request for more than one bus on the Goodman Express route. We are evaluating the additional costs of providing this additional service, but before we make that commitment we want to confirm that these new routes are going to meet the vast majority of the service requirements for the community.

What we’ve heard/Clarification:  A misunderstanding we’ve heard is that there is only one bus serving Asa Packer campus. This is incorrect. The Mountaintop Express, Goodman Express, Packer Express (M-F), and Campus Connector (weekends) all stop at every Asa Packer campus bus stop.

What we’ve heard/Clarification: Why does the Saucon Express need to stop at Goodman Campus? To provide transportation to/from Mountaintop for Goodman commuter lot permit holders.

What we’ve heard/Clarification: Students working late in labs would like later service. While we’re unable to extend the bus service times due to the staffing requirements, we can provide students with Lyft codes on weeknights from 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM. Please click here for more information.

We appreciate everyone’s feedback and welcome additional feedback here as we make adjustments to best meet the needs of our campuses.
