President John D. Simon announced on August 29, 2019 that Lehigh University would immediately begin a search for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The next Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs will be a dynamic and forward-thinking leader who will embrace and build upon Lehigh’s identity as a research institution, extending its global footprint and demonstrating a deep commitment to education and student success. As the University’s chief academic officer, the Provost will work closely with the President, College Deans, Deputy Provosts, Vice Provosts, and Vice Presidents to oversee all academic matters. In collaboration with President Simon, the Provost will play a key role in the continued implementation of the Path to Prominence plan, the University's $1 billion plus fundraising and engagement campaign—GO: The Campaign for Lehigh, and the development of the next strategic plan that will continue to move Lehigh forward into the next decade and beyond.
Pat Farrell will continue to serve as Provost and step down effective June 30, 2020.
