1. In the Edit menu at the top of the browser window, select "Preferences". A Preferences dialog box should appear.
2. Select the category labelled "Advanced" by clicking on the plus sign (+) to it's left; this should now turn into a minus sign (-) and show three further options.
3. Select the "Proxies" option, select Automatic proxy Configuration, and type the following into the field labelled "Configuration Location (URL)": http://www.lib.lehigh.edu/proxy/proxy.pac
4. Click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

For Internet Explorer 4
1. In the View menu at the top of the browser window, select "Internet Options". An Internet Options dialog box should appear.
2. Select the tab at the top labelled "Connection".
3. In the section labelled "Proxy Server", check the box next to "Access the Internet using a proxy server".
4. In the box labelled "Address:" type: www.lib.lehigh.edu, and in the box labelled "Port:" type: 8066
5. You can also add a list of addresses for which you don't need to proxy by clicking the button labeled "Advanced" and typing these addresses into the box labeled "Exceptions".
6. Click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

When you no longer need to proxy:
1. In the View menu at the top of the browser window, select "Internet Options". An Internet Options dialog box should appear.
2. Select the tab at the top labelled "Connection".
3. In the section labelled "Proxy Server", UNCHECK the box next to "Access the Internet using a proxy server".
4. Click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box.
If you don't deselect the proxy server in Internet Explorer, you will be asked for your AFS name and password at every site you visit, which can become rapidly annoying. To avoid this, you'll need to either manually unload the proxy server, or use Netscape2.0 and above products, which can automatically use the proxy server only when necessary.
