The findings in this survey suggest that:
  • students are quite conscious of their posting strategies
  • students have adopted the posting vocabulary
  • students see that discussion advances thinking
  • the importance of community becomes more important as the number of steps in the interaction process increases
  • more thought needs to be given to the optimum number of posts required to foster both high quality content and the highest possible participation
