The Limitation

The goal of having discussion develop through multiple interchanges, say five or six posts over the course of a week, means that my system probably would not work well in all settings.  In this project class we spent the week on one work, a novel, that was the subject of all of the posts.  That worked fine.  But I'm not sure, for instance, exactly how I would use my system in, say, the survey course in American literature I often teach in which we might have two or three different readings each class, and different type readings.  In that case in which the subject matter was varied and changed rapidly, by the end of the week we might be far in content from where we were in the beginning of the week, and it's hard to imagine how to keep the discussion in synch.
