Text: Finite Mathematics and it Applications (seventh edition) by Larry J. Goldstein, David I. Schneider and Martha J. Siegel
Classes: Lectures meet MWF at 1:10 PM in Christmas-Saucon 302. Recitations are in Christmas-Saucon 403. Each student is scheduled to attend during one of the following times T 8:20, T 12:10, R 9:20, R 1:10.
Content: We will cover most of chapters 2-8 and possibly parts of 9 and 10.
Computers: We will use excell spreadsheets and possibly other web resources. See for sources for the text. Click here or here for course web pages.
Homework/Quizzes: There will be regular homework assignments. Several problems from each assignment will be selected for you to write up {\em carefully} and turn in. Quizzes based on the assignments and practice problems from the text will be given regularly in class and in recitation. The two lowest quiz scores will be dropped.
Exams: Hourly exams are scheduled for September 20, October 18 and November 15 during class. The final exam will be scheduled by the registrar.
Attendance: By mathematics department policy attendance at all class and recitations is required.
Grading: There will be a total of 700 points. Each hourly exam counts 100, homework and quizzes will each count 100 and the final exam 200. Expect approximately a straight scale. Attendence and participation may be used in determine borderline grades.
