This is due Wednesday March 20, 1996: Chapter 6 exercises 2,3,4,8,9 and problem A described below.

For exercise 9 parts (a) and (b) simply state the lemmas (do not prove them). For exercise 8 and 9(c) use the xerox of the proof handed out in class and simply mark the needed changes.

Problem A: For each of the following your last bid is Y, your opponents is O. Bidding up to this point is not necessarily rational, but from here on both players can be assumed to be rational. What should your response to the bid O be in each case. The stakes and bankroll are s and b respectively.

Y = 17 O=22 s=12 b=105 and conservative convention
Y = 18 O=22 s=11 b=100 and conservative convention
Y = 19 O=21 s=11 b=100 and conservative convention
Y = 17 O=22 s=12 b=105 and punishing convention
Y = 19 O=21 s=10 b=200 and punishing convention
Y = 11 O=19 s=10 b=200 and punishing convention
