Our department recently got the go-ahead to advertise a permanent position
for 2003. The ad, to appear in AMS Notices, is reproduced below.

The timing is funny. Rather than waiting until fall so as to have
the hiring process happening at what we think of as the usual time
of year, we've decided to try doing it in the spring instead and see
how it goes.

The position is wide open as to field. I think that if the right
topologist came along a good case could be made.
