Subject: Job in Aberdeen Date: Thu, 05 Aug 2004 14:18:09 +0100 From: Ran Levi Organization: University of Aberdeen To: DON DAVIS Dear Don, could you please post the following annoucement to the list. Thanks, Ran ================================================= POST IN ABERDEEN The department on mathematics in Aberdeen University is hoping to make two appointments in the general areas of Topology and/or Algebra. The first of these positions should be formally advertised very soon, with interviews held as early as September (2004!). This first post is available for the coming academic year. The positions are partially funded by the EPSRC for 5 years. Both posts are intended for mathematicians at an early stage of their career, and in the first few years will be predominantly research positions. Subject to satisfactory progress the person taking such a post will be offered a regular position. Thus these are a rather attractive combination of a research position and something like a tenure track. Below is a copy of the formal job advert soon to appear. Interested candidates wishing to make an informal inquiry should contact Ran Levi (ran@maths.abdn.ac.uk), Michael Weiss (m.weiss@maths.abdn.ac.uk) or John Hubbuck (j.hubbuck@maths.abdn.ac.uk) as soon as possible. However, please wait for the formal advertisement on http://www.abdn.ac.uk/jobs or on http://www.jobs.ac.uk/sector/maths/ before you send an application to our HR department.
