Subject: Toric topology conference From: Nige Ray Date: Wed, 31 Jan 2007 17:32:50 +0000 TORIC TOPOLOGY - preliminary announcement Dear All, We are planning a conference "New Horizons in Toric Topology" for the period Monday 7 - Friday 11 July 2008 in Manchester. This is the week immediately preceding the ECM in Amsterdam. We have just secured an initial tranche of funding, and will make a proper announcement as soon as a second application is considered; this should be within a couple of months. All details, and all subsequent information, will then be posted on dedicated pages at www.mims.manchester.ac.uk/events/. We already have an excellent line-up of plenary speakers waiting in the wings, and they will be publicly identified in our next (and first proper) announcement, which will also appear on the webpage above. At that point we will begin to assemble a list of other invited speakers, and will encourage applications from all parties; we will also establish a mailing list. We hope everyone interested will be able to consider attending. We expect that the meeting will form part of a year-long celebration of the new School of Mathematics building, which will house the recently merged mathematicians of UMIST and the Victoria University of Manchester. The meeting will be accommodated within the purpose-built MIMS http://www.mims.manchester.ac.uk/ facility, which has been established as the research arm of the School. More soon ....
