POSITIONS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA

Ad #1

The Mathematics Department at the University of British Columbia is
seeking candidates for at least one tenure-track Assistant Professorship, subject
to funding, with a starting date of 1 July 2003. Exceptional candidates at
the Associate Professor or Professor level may be considered. Applicants must
have an outstanding research record in one of the following areas:
Differential or Algebraic Geometry, Mathematical Physics, Partial
Differential Equations or Topology.  The successful applicant is expected
to interact with related groups in the Mathematics Department and have
demonstrated interest and ability in teaching. The salary will be
commensurate with experience and research record.  Applicants should send
a current CV including a list of publications, statement of research and

AD #2 Tier II Canada Research Chair in "geometry/topology"

The Mathematics Department at the University of British Columbia is
seeking outstanding junior candidates for a Tier II Canada Research Chair in the
area of Differential Geometry or Geometry/Topology, with a starting date
of 1 July 2003.  Details about the federal government's CRC programme,
including the Chair selection criteria, can be found at

Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful applicant will have
an outstanding research record, will be expected to interact with related
groups at UBC, and will have demonstrated interest and ability in
