2.3  Higher Derivatives

Example 1 Find the following derivative:
( sin(x)) ¢¢.

Solution

Since f(x) = sin(x) , the first derivative f¢(x) is just f¢(x) = cos(x) .

To find the second derivative of f , jst do it again,
f¢¢(x)

( f¢(x)) ¢
=
( cos(x)) ¢
=
-sin(x).
