Math 21, Fall, 1996

Math 21, Fall, 1996

Math 21, Calculus and Analytic Geometry I, will cover the first 6 chapters of Calculus, Early Transcendentals, third edition, by James Stewart. There is also a supplemental text, Discovering Calculus with Maple , by Harris and Lopez, which is required for this course.

Note that the general information, lecture notes, and Maple-Primer handouts are now available in plain-text versions, readable directly on your Web browser. It is not perfectly formatted, and some mathematical symbols are garbled, but it might be useful. This is more readable than the TeX versions promised in the general information sheets. To print these documents, get the postscript version (the first link) and simply print it. Most dorm printers should understand the file, and print it with all the mathematical symbols.

General Information

Old Exams, with Solutions

We have available the exams, with solutions, given in Math 21 in the Fall semester of 1993 which you can use for reference. Remember that these may not cover exactly the same material as the current exams do, due to the fact that the text is different, and our exam scheduling and class schedules are different.

Old Final Exams

We have available the old final exam, unfortunately without solutions, given in Math 21 in the Fall semester of 1993 which you can use for reference. Remember that it does not cover exactly the same material as the current exam will, due to the fact that the text is different, and our exam scheduling and class schedules are different.

Practice Exam

Professor Napier has written a practice sheet for the second exam. It is not exactly a "practice exam", since it would be much longer than a one-hour exam. But, the problems are good ones to study to prepare for the exam. Solutions will be made available later. Since there are drawings, this is only available in Postscript format.

Final Exam Practice Problems

NEW!

Professor Napier has written a collection of practice problems for the final exam. The problems are good ones to study to prepare for the exam. Answers will be available later. Since there are drawings, this is only available in Postscript format.
