Summer CHOICES featured on WFMZ's 69 News, The Express-Times

Lehigh University's Summer CHOICES camp took the spotlight this week as WFMZ-TV and The Express-Times featured the annual program both in broadcast and print.

WFMZ's 69 News showcased CHOICES this week as the campers created simulated roller coasters during a program presented by the Da Vinci Science Center.

The Express-Times was also on campus this week during a liquid nitrogen (LIN) demonstration by Air Products. Heather Marshall '04 and Heather Megivern '11, former CHOICES mentors and now Community Outreach Ambassadors for Air Products, returned to campus for the presentation.

The engineering problem-solving approach can be used at any level of engineering" explained CHOICES director and Lehigh professor Bill Best. "That's what we're trying to convince them of. There is so much room in engineering for creativity, innovation and for design."

Over two dozen middle school girls and mentors from the Society of Women Engineers are spending their days in Packard over the next two weeks for CHOICES. Lehigh’s popular summer camp is designed to provide girls with the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun engineering and science experiments led by women engineers.

The event is sponsored by Lehigh's P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science and our chapter of the Society of Women Engineers, with support from partner organizations such as NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Air Products and Chemicals, ExxonMobil, the Da Vinci Science Center and Boeing, among others.
