I went to the ER when these did not disappear overnight. Well, I didn't dodge the bullet this time -- it really nicked me. A MRI confirmed the CT results that I'd had a small clot in a blood vessel in my brain, i.e., a non-bleeding stroke. My left arm and face have patches of numbness. This may reverse over time. There were no immediate precipitating(sic) factors, but I need to control my diabetes and hypertension better. I'll be taking a "blood thinner" a little stronger than aspirin. Good points were that the CT, MRI, cardiac and carotid echographs showed no other problems. In light of the risk factors I have, this was positive news for me. The symptoms have abated somewhat. I can type, but can't do bottons with my left hand. Mark Hovey and I are both doing things for the Hopf Archive, now so you shouldn't notice any big slowdowns there. Greg K. and I continue talking about better coordination between Hopf and arXive. Best, Clarence Wilkerson
