In the Libraries, we have been hearing about growing interest in open access publishing and in better understanding current issues in scholarly communication.
On Thursday, March 31, Library and Technology Services (LTS) will welcome Heather Joseph, Director of SPARC (Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) for a campus visit.
There are two sessions of interest to faculty:
9:00 am - 11:00 am, Drop-in Discussion for Faculty
Topics will include funding of open access fees, new public access mandates for federally funded research, and whatever you wish to bring to the table. Location: Linderman 200 Refreshments available
4:10 pm, Talk: "Open Access, Bit by Bit: Why Scholarly Publication Must Change."
Ms. Joseph is leading SPARC's efforts to develop new models for the open sharing of digital articles, data and educational resources. Under her guidance, SPARC has become a leading international force for effective open access policies and practices. Location: Linderman 200 Refreshments available
Ms. Joseph's campus visit is sponsored by the Friends of the Lehigh University Libraries.
Please encourage colleagues and students to attend!
