The Lehigh Libraries are excited to announce the implementation of a new library management system, Kuali Open Library Environment (OLE), a next generation open source library system to manage both electronic and print collections. This open system allows library data to be shared with other campus systems such as financial systems. The Kuali OLE project is a Mellon Foundation funded, community sourced project developed by the Kuali Foundation with the OLE university partners noted below.
The Lehigh Libraries and the University of Chicago Libraries are the first academic libraries to adopt and implement this newly developed software. For more information about the Kuali OLE project: www.kuali.org/ole
Library Online Catalog Update
The library catalog, ASA 2.0, will search the new Kuali OLE library management system. With the move to this new library management system, the Classic ASA Catalog Search will be discontinued at the end of September.
The powerful features of ASA 2.0 include call number searches, limiting searches to collections and types of materials, and direct links to new books, course reserves, video titles, and Inter-library loan services. ASA 2.0 allows information found in the catalog to be saved to a favorites list and texted to mobile devices.
ASA 2.0 has been tested for over two years. The libraries received excellent feedback from faculty, staff, and students and have made improvements based on this valuable feedback.
Thanks and have a great Fall semester!
Bruce M. Taggart, Ph.D. Vice Provost, Library & Technology Services
