Dear Members of the Campus Community,
With the close of the semester and many students still seeking summer internships and employment, Lehigh and other institutions have seen a large increase in phishing attempts through email and compromised accounts.
Library and Technology Services is urging our community to be extra vigilant about supplying your Lehigh log on credentials on any website and to also be on guard with any requests for personally identifiable information (PII), such as social security number and birth date. We highly recommend that you never send this type of information in email.
We have seen numerous sites posing as Lehigh computing account management pages and employer application websites. To verify the authenticity of an employer site, go to the employer's official website or contact the employer directly. For Lehigh sites, be sure you are accessing a lehigh.edu domain for account log on use. Neither Lehigh nor employers should ask for account credentials or personal information through email.
Any suspected malicious communications can be forwarded to Lehigh Information Security at security@lehigh.edu or vetted by calling 610-758-3994.
Best regards,
Bruce M. Taggart, Ph.D. Vice Provost Library and Technology Services
