Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2001 12:11:18 +0000 From: Ronnie Brown Subject: advertisement of new CDRom for topology list RPAMath CDRom This CDRom was financed principally by an EC Grant is therefore available at the very low price of $10 (£5, 10EU). It is largely based on web sites at Bangor but also contains beautiful animations by Nick Mee of 23 John Robinson sculptures which are much too large for the web, and a movie "Pivoted lines and the Mobius Band" which illustrates the correspondence between rotations in 3-space and the projective plane. The whole CD is programmed in a coherent manner, and has a beautiful cover illustrating some mathematical applications (how the leopard gets its spots). Procedure for ordering is on http://www.bangor.ac.uk/~mas010/CDadvert.html Ronnie Brown School of Informatics, Mathematics Division, University of Wales, Bangor Dean St., Bangor, Gwynedd LL57 1UT, United Kingdom Tel. direct:+44 1248 382474|office: 382681 fax: +44 1248 361429 World Wide Web: home page: http://www.bangor.ac.uk/~mas010/ (Links to survey articles: Higher dimensional group theory Groupoids and crossed objects in algebraic topology) Symbolic Sculpture and Mathematics: http://www.cpm.informatics.bangor.ac.uk/sculmath/ Centre for the Popularisation of Mathematics http://www.cpm.informatics.bangor.ac.uk/ Raising Public Awareness of Mathematics http://www.cpm.informatics.bangor.ac.uk/rpamath/
