From: Gunnar Carlsson Date: Mon, 26 Jun 2006 10:34:51 -0700 To: dmd1@lehigh.edu This fall there will be a semester long program at MSRI whose theme is applications of algebraic topology in science, engineering, statistics, and computer science. Attached to this program will be three workshops, and Introductory workshop (September 5-8) , a workshop in the applications to science and engineering (September 18-22), and a workshop in applications to combinatorics, computer science, and computational geometry (October 2-6). In the Introductory workshop, special efforts will be made to provide talks which give introductions to particular areas of applications, such as data analysis, sensor nets in engineering, turbulent and chaotic systems, graph theory, etc. These talks should be ideal both for non-topologists who are interested in learning about the topological methods, as well as for working topologists who are interested in seeing what kinds of applications are possible. If you are interested in any of these workshops, please go to the MSRI website where arrangements can be made to participate. Gunnar Carlsson
