Using NiftyTelnet to upload files using a Mac
-
Using a web browser, go to the security software page: https://www.lehigh.edu/security/download/)
-
Click on NiftyTelnet to download and unstuff/install it.
-
On the desktop, open the niftytelnet-1.1-ssh-r3er folder

-
Click on NiftyTelnet 1.1 SSH r3

-
From the File menu choose New Connection
-
Click on New in the box that comes up.
-
In the window that comes up, type in a name for the connection at Shortcut
name, and the hostname in the hostname box (such as ns.cc.lehigh.edu)

-
Change the Protocol to SSH-3DES
-
Click OK to go back to the New Connection screen.
-
Make sure the name of the connection you just created is highlighted.
-
Click on SCP button
-
If necessary, put a destination directory name or path in the Destination
Path field.

-
Click the Add File/Folder button and use the window that comes up
to highlight the file(s) you wish to upload. Click the Select button to
select them.

-
Repeat for all the files you wish to select. If you have both text/html
files and binary (program, image, word processing, etc.) files, do the
text/html files together, then do a separate upload for the binary files.
(You can add as many files as you want, by repeating the selection process
for each.)
-
If the files you are transferring are Binary, click the 'Binary
Mode' button under File Translation.
If the files are text or HTML, click the 'Text Mode' button.
-
Click on Start Copy. The progress window will come up:
-
If you are told 'The public key for this host is unknown', click 'Accept
& Save' to save the idenitification key for the server.
-
If you get a message saying 'Reverting to 3DES', click 'Continue'.
-
In the SSH Login screen, enter your username and password for the host.
-
The files will be transferred. You'll see a progress window charting the
progress; when that window closes, the files are transferred.
-
Close NiftyTelnet by choosing Quit from the File menu.
