Using Macromedia
Dreamweaver 4

Images
Before inserting an image in a web page with Dreamweaver, you must get the image
into a web-compatible format. Compatible formats include JPEG and GIF files. Programs
like Photoshop will let you save images in those formats. [The Media Production
centers in the basements of Fairchild-Martindale and Linderman libraries have
facilities for scanning, editing, and/or creating images, including copies of
Photoshop.]
Once you have the image on your computer or disk, to insert the image into
the web page, click your cursor where you want the image to be, then choose
Image from the Insert menu, or click on the Image icon in the Objects panel
.
Use the Select Image Source window that comes up to find and select the image
you want to insert.
Once you have inserted the image, you can click on it and change its Properties
in the Properties window.
- Put a text label for the image in the Alt field (5).
- Use the Align drop-down (4) to change the alignment of the image with respect
to the text around it.
- If you want the image to be a link, you can put the URL for the link in
the Link field. (6)
- The W (1) and H (2) properties list the images width and height. (It's not
a good idea to change the W and H fields; if you want the image bigger or
smaller, it's better to copy the image and use an image editing program to
change its size.)
- Border (7) lets you set a border that number of pixels wide around the image.
