WARNING: Respect Copyrights!

To all Lehigh users who maintain World Wide Web pages or servers:

It has come to our attention that some users have been incorporating copyrighted material in the creation of Web-accessible information resources. This practice is in violation of US and international copyright laws and must not continue. Such copyrighted material includes, for example, images, sounds, or artwork from TV and films, or textual material reproduced from books or magazine articles. You may wish to consult with the University Libraries to help determine whether your use of certain material falls under the "fair use" provision of the copyright law. Fair use, however, does have strict requirements, and you should first assume that any material of commercial origin for which you have not received a specific license may not be presented via the web. If you are unsure about a particular item, chances are that it is copyrighted and should not be used. Also, do not use outside WWW resources as a model for what is allowable, as many of them are in violation of the law as well (and are being forced by copyright owners to clean up).

At this time, we are asking all users to review the material they are presenting for compliance with applicable copyright laws. Copyright violations present a serious liability exposure to the University and continued use of unlicensed material can not be permitted. Thank you for your cooperation and quick attention to this matter.
