Chirk Castle was a Marcher Lords stronghold that was completed in 1310 after the defeat of the last native Prince of Wales. It has been restored and converted into a stately home over a period of centuries. Today, it's a National Trust property with elegant plasterwork, furniture, tapestries and paintings.
