Day Eleven - 23 miles

Clwyd Gate crossroads to Prestatyn

MThis is really a two-day walk, but I did it in one by getting an early start and bypassing Bodfari, which would be the logical stopping place. This is a day of extraordinary views. From the Jubilee Monument atop Moel Fammau, it's possible to see the end of the journey, the Irish Sea, more than 20 miles distant. Also visible are the high peaks of Snowdonia, 40 miles to the west. Click here to see a panoramic view from Moel Fammau. There are five or six of these moels, or mountains, to ascend and descend before reaching Prestatyn. Each new mountain takes the walker by surprise, as it seems surely it must get flat soon in the approach to Prestatyn. Prestatyn is a bit of an anticlimax as there's no real beach there; the town is a tourist resort with arcades. Nonetheless, it's good to see those feet being washed in the Irish Sea!
