COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL - MINUTES

Thank
you 5th grade Moms for sponsoring this coffee.

Thank
you Adrianne Hibshman for the idea and Mary Angelucci and Cathy Zarrelli for
organizing food for the teachers during parent teacher conferences.
·
Asked
attendees if it would be permissible to send HSA info through a list serve –
everyone was agreeable to this idea.
·
Budget
Update – Security System $25,000, assembly programs, new math series, purchased
Mrs. Krenos a new phone system last year, this year she needs a new printer.
·
Market
Day – Pleased with 1st month’s success. 47 orders for a $290 profit (goal was
$300). December goal is 48 orders and
$300 profit will earn us a free cart for school usage.

Casino
Night, Saturday, January 26 – Need a new chairperson
·
Yvonne
Schaeffer – Tricky Tray Canvassing, earn 3 points.
·
Gift
Certificate Program – Convenience Items added for Christmas Sales, low profit
gift certificates so profit only to school.
Special orders weekly until December 16th.

Christmas
Liturgy – Monday, December 17
·
Shawn
Blasco is a full time teacher now and may need help
with Christmas Angel program and parent liturgy. Contact her if you can help.

Pelaggi – Coordinating the Good Shepherd craft. Room Moms will receive an email with more
information next week.

Carnival – 7th and 8th Graders did a great job - $800
profit.

Boo at the Zoo, 6th grade Faith Sharing Day at Bethlehem Catholic.

Half-day
Kindergarten is still posing a problem for families who need full day. Pray for help.

Monday
and Tuesday will be Parent-Teacher conferences.
Apologize for lateness of time slips.
All parents received times within requested time frames.

Mrs.
Buonpane organized 20 readers for National Reading
Day. Bishop Welsh was a reader who read
to both 2nd and 8th grades. We also had three superintendents from the
Diocese Office of Education.

Thank
you to Antonette Kovacs and Charlene Dean for the
delicious Thanksgiving lunch – traditions like this are important.
·
Mr Weiner (OLPH parent) has volunteered to lead
the Seder Meal.
·
CYO
News: Pep Rally – Enjoyed and encouraged
by all. Thank you for the great job K-5
cheerleaders. Girls volleyball won the
league – District and Diocesan, only 2 losses all season.
·
Forensic
Tournament – 7th Grade run by Mrs. Smith – Dramatic Readings.
·
Math
24 – 3rd-5th grades: Need to purchase more licenses. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Olson went to a seminar
to learn more.
·
Marketing: 1st grade parent, Mr. Toohey, will meet with Mr. Reese Tuesday to start creating
a marketing strategy. New website: www.olphbeth.org

Upcoming
events: Thursday: Santa Shop, St. Nicholas Day and Assembly

Theme
of Christmas Liturgy – Respect and Reverence
·
Spanish
Class – Program on hold for now. New
teacher, OLPH parent, Mary Angelucci will be the new teacher beginning December
1. Stop all work in progress. Mrs. Angelucci has a Bachelors and Masters in
Spanish.
·
New
Safety course will be taught to our students per Diocesan regulation – will
stress child lures, good/bad touch.
Taught by each teacher.
·
Have
a Blessed Thanksgiving

At
tough times, when feeling hopeless, think:
“I can’t, He can, I think I will let Him”
·
We
should be a reflection of Jesus especially to children. We are not God or Jesus, but a
reflection. It is hard being a Catholic
at times.
Parents:

Sex
Ed still offered at OLPH? – No - Diocese
dropped it out of curriculum, parent’s responsibility. OLPH has a field trip to the Weller Center in
6th grade to include some information previously covered in the
curriculum.
·
2nd
Tuesday in January – Center for Humanistic Change – Anti-bullying Class. 2nd
Step for parents. Offered in evening
with hopes for child care.
No Coffee with the Principal in December – Coffees
will resume in January!
