you 3rd grade Moms for sponsoring this coffee.

We
presented Monsignor Sachs with a $250 Ticketmaster Gift Certificate for his 70th
birthday – thank you for all your fundraising efforts.
·
Pasta
for Pennies Kick Off officially ended this week, but we will continue to accept
donations throughout the month of February
·
Gift
Certificate News – Still have Lowes on hand – will receive tuition credit. New restaurant at Lehigh Valley Mall – Bone
Fish Grille is open – may use Carraba’s/Outback gift cards at Bone Fish – will
receive tuition credit. Wal-Mart is also
available – no tuition credit. Countless
Blessing Gift Certificates make great gifts – purchaser receives tuition
credit.

Market
Day – After three months we have earned $1000.
We are on track for our $1800 goal.
Discussed one summer pick up June or August – after discussion, decided
on June. Send in your Market Day bag to
Tina Sauer c/o Tyler, Grade 3 prior to Market Day pick-up for your order to be
filled in your bag. Fold your Market Day
bag into a plastic baggie to make it easier to send into school.

Tricky
Tray - Took a poll of the school children for tricky tray ideas. Results:
Kindergarten- 2nd grade wanted Webkins and Money Trees, Grade
3-5 boys: any kind of video games or video game gift cards, girls: American
Girl outfits. Grade 6-8 boys: sports basket, movie basket girls: sleepover
basket, American Eagle gift cards.
Kristin will discuss results with Tricky Tray committee to see how to
proceed with this information

Home
School Association Board Positions: Kristin
Dundon’s two year term as President is complete. Diane Parkansky, Secretary, has accepted a
permanent position with Lehigh Valley Zoo and needs to resign at the end of
this school year. Jeff Silfies,
Treasurer, has agreed to remain as Treasurer an additional year so we do not
have to elect 3 positions. Discussed
adding another board position to divide some of the Secretary responsibilities,
voted and approved to add Public Relations position to be responsible for
communication school news outside the school – AD Times, local newspapers,
bulletin, etc. Please consider these volunteering
for one of these positions – President, Secretary, Public Relations. More info to follow.

Bishop’s
Scholarship Awards: To an eighth grader planning on attending Catholic High
School, based on academic achievements, school and parish service and
activities and school recommendations.
OLPH received the highest number of awards: Leslie Tintle,

Campf, Alana Tighe

Snow
Day – One day left! If we require
additional snow days, final day of school will be postponed. This will also affect kindergarten and 8th
grade graduations.
·
Lent
Activities: Stations every Thursday at 2:15PM, Morning Mass every Tuesday and
Thursday at 8:00AM. Students also
participate in silent dismissals during lent – starting with one day a week
leading to a full week of silent dismissal. Great sacrifice for students to
keep quiet during dismissal.
·
Catholic
Schools Week – Mission Mardi Gras raised $775 for charity – will go to Holy
Childhood Association, USO and the Covenant House. Eighth grade is doing a great job with
leadership this year.
·
Preschool
and Kindergarten held their Winter Olympics today.
·
Students
will have standardized testing during March.
Parents:
·
Adrianne
Hibshman: Requested time for interested
parents to disinfect students’ desks. Mr Reese gave approval for parents to disinfect on Fridays
after school. Parents need to bring in
cleaning supplies and notify teacher prior.
Diane Parkansky will email room parents of this opportunity.
·
Diane
Parkansky: Teachers are running low on antibacterial wipes – please supply and
ask teachers if they are in need of any other supplies.
·
Adrianne
Hibshman: Anti-Bullying Seminar – asked
about including anti-bullying into the daily curriculum for the students. Mr. Reese stated there is no free time for
adding another subject, but it is covered in other subjects and Friday mass; we
could present an Anti-Bullying assembly for students. Kristin Dundon reminded all that the Anti-Bullying
Seminar is rescheduled for Tuesday, February 19th 6:45. Adrianne will contact the Center for
Humanistic Change for information about assemblies.
