The Fulbright-scholars went on a 4-hour cruise up Volta Lake to Dodi Island. The trip included food, music and dancing, and a scenic view of the Volta region. This beautiful ride provided us with some much-needed relaxation. At Dodi Island some very friendly children who led us by the hand around their island home greeted us. It provided us with a rare look at subsistent life in a rural region. Volta Lake is a main source of hydro-electricity, which is the country's primary source of power.
