For Information about Economic Development, click here... When I arrived in Ghana I fully expected to see some development that would be leading Ghana out of a Third World existence, but to my pleasant surprise Ghana, particularly Accra, was far beyond what I had envisioned. Modern Western style architecture and building was going on at a feverous pace. Modern, beautiful corporate buildings including many banks, as well as gas stations with United States-like convenience stores could be seen all over the city. As time went on I was fortunate enough to visit homes and construction sites of people building private homes that rival large houses built within the United States. In addition, I was able to visit restaurants and hotels which certainly would carry a five-star rating by Western standards and those of Developed countries. I feel fairly confident that Ghana through privatization and with investment from the Developed-Industrial Nations will be able to continue on their quest to become a middle income level country and improve their infrastructure to help to expedite reaching that goal. I see Ghana’s Vision 2020 as paving the way for not only Ghana, but for that of Western Africa, as well. Maury Molin, Ghana 2000 |
