Prospective Steam Car Tour Participant:

This year’s steam car tour will take place from June 15-20^th 2008 in Bennington Vermont. We have a very exciting tour planned. It will be based at the Vermont Paradise Inn which is conveniently located in downtown Bennington right across from the Hemming’s Motor News Headquarters. The hotel does not normally provide breakfast but, we’ve arranged a variety of hearty breakfasts catered by A Taste of Italy that will be served in the conference room of our hotel each morning for those who sign up for it.

On Sunday there will be a short warm up tour that meanders around the outskirts of Bennington, Vermont. Hopefully everyone can use this tour to see a bit of the southern Vermont area and get their cars running in top shape for the week of tours we have planned. In the evening we’ll have our Fire Up Banquet at the Mount Anthony Country Club. The Fire Up Banquet will be buffet-style featuring apple pork shanks and turkey with fixins.

Monday’s tour will take us to the Bennington Battlefield and the Nuns of New Skete Monastery. This tour will be around 40 miles.

Tuesday’s tour will travel to the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA and then continue on to the North River Winery in Jacksonville, VT. This tour will be around 100 miles.

Wednesday’s tour will take us through all 5 covered bridges of Bennington County with a stop at the Bennington Center for the Arts which includes a covered bridge museum. This tour will be around 45 miles. In the evening there will be a lasagna 
'church supper' hosted by the local Unitarian Universalists of which Nancy Shay (formerly Nancy Kirkpatrick) is a member.

Thursday’s tour includes a visit to Hildene and travels through Manchester, VT (the shopping capital of southern Vermont). Hildene has arranged a box lunch for those who are interested. They will be made by local Manchester eateries and can be served at their picnic pavilion. This tour will be around 85 miles.

Friday’s tour is a short sight seeing tour through Bennington. There will be stops at the Bennington Museum, the Park McCullough Mansion, and the Robert Frost Stone House Museum. This tour will be around 15 miles. In the evening we will have our Blow Down Banquet at the Mount Anthony Country Club. It will again be buffet style and feature prime rib w/ mushroom sauce and Marcella chicken.

In the registration form we’ve charged a little bit extra for some items to cover/absorb unforeseen/indirect expenses (such as this mailing). In the unlikely event that there is a positive balance in left over, it will be donated to the Stanley Museum.
