Postdoctoral Position available [June 1, 2015]

A postdoctoral position at the rank of Research Associate is available in Dr. Bocchini’s research group at Lehigh University. The project will start in the early Fall 2015 and the initial appointment will cover one year, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Project topics

The successful candidate will work on a new exciting project that spans the areas of Civil Engineering and Bio-Engineering. Moreover, he/she will collaborate to the establishment of a new interdepartmental research thrust on the topic of Random Functions at Lehigh, and the organization of a workshop.

Selection criteria

In general, the successful candidate needs a background in probabilistic computational models. The following characteristics are being considered for the selection of candidates:

  • holding a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in the areas of Civil Engineering, Bio-Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics;
  • being capable of coordinating the day-to-day activities of a new project, involving several students and reporting to two supervisors in two departments;
  • being proficient with numerical analysis and programming;
  • being familiar with random functions and probabilistic modeling in general;
  • being familiar with PDEs, Stochastic PDEs, and their numerical solution.
Previous experience with high-performance computing will be considered a bonus.
