Dr.Eberhardt, now semi-retired, has been teaching at Lehigh University since
1962.
Childhood experiences during the second world war in eastern Europe woke him to
the urgent need for understanding the human predicament and its bloody
consequences. After some studies of philosophy in Graz/Austria he made physics
his main career - first as a research scientist in the electronics industry and
then as Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
This book is a result of his lifelong second vocation, which actually often
came first.
