Lehigh University Recommended Lantronix UDS Settings


Follow these guidelines for a more secure Lantronix setup on Lehigh's
network.



telnet ip_address 9999  <- connect to your Lantronix box



option 0 

- set ip address to 0.0.5.0  (DHCP only)
 
You can leave all other settings as the default in this section.  
We will setup an enhanced password using option 6. 



option 6

- Disable SNMP - Yes

- Disable Telnet - leave this as no, or else you will have to
  physically visit each Lantronix to change anything in the future.
  For ultimate maximum security you could set this to yes and get more
  exercise hiking to each box.

- Disable TFTP - Yes

- Disable Port 77FEh - Yes

- Disable Web Server - Yes

- Disable Web Setup - Yes

- Disable ECHO ports - Yes <- this is the default

- Enable Enhanced Password - Yes

- Change the Password - Yes <- Set your new longer password here.


Choose Save and exit and it is now secure as it can be.
