Objectives

Overview

• Understand what can be done via WWW authoring.
• Be familiar with the concepts and terms related to WWW and WWW authoring

Exercise 1

• Create an HTML document (home page); learn how to use the dte editor on the Network Server to edit it.

File Systems at Lehigh

• Have a basic understanding of how and where user Webspace is stored and accessed on Lehigh systems

Exercise 2

• Be familiar with some basic tools for accessing your webspace through the Network Server.
• Have created a symbolic link from your Network Server space to your web space.

HTML Tags & Structure

• Understand what a tag is.
• Understand document structure tags - head, body.
• Understand document formatting tags - p, br, hr.
• Understand document text attribute tags - em, strong, hx, i, b.

Exercise 3

• Have edited an HTML document on the Network Server.
• Have added HTML formatting and text attribute tags to an HTML document.
