A Lemur
Today is Tuesday, November 24, 2009 (Week 47, Day 328)

Welcome to the Dynamic Document page!

The purpose of this page is to demonstrate the fact that web documents need not be restricted to being nothing more than static pages. Don't get me wrong: ordinary web pages, using only basic HTML constructs, can still be very effective: relevant, interesting content is always the most important aspect of any web page, and with the proper use of graphics and design, such pages can be both attention-getting and satisfying. But ordinary pages can only deliver information that the author knew about in advance; their content and appearance only change when the author edits the page and puts up a new version; and, other than allowing the user to follow links through the information, such pages offer relatively little in the way of real interactivity.

This page uses several advanced features, including more than just HTML, to show you how active a place a web page can really be (in case you hadn't noticed as you were wandering about the web). In fact, it goes a little overboard: in trying to demonstrate many different possibilities, it violates stylistic principles fairly severely. This page is not intended to be taken as an example of how you should construct a page, but merely as an indication of what sort of things can be done.

There's lots to look for on this page. Pay particular attention to the various sorts of information presented that the author could not possibly have known about in advance. Also notice how the page changes if you revisit it (this page will probably never look exactly the same twice). Happy Tuesday!
