Objectives

Overview

• Understand the basics of how the Web fits into the overall scheme of Internet services.
• Start to look at the Web from the point of view of an author rather than as a reader.
• Obtain a basic understanding of hypertext.
• Obtain a basic understanding of the server and filesystems for server at Lehigh.

Workshop

• Learn to use Netscape and Lynx: load a URL directly, make bookmarks.
• Learn the specific features of Netscape that are useful for authoring, particularly View Source.
• Create an HTML document (home page); learn how to use the dte editor on the Network Server to edit it.
