AAUW International Fellowships
Description: International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not United States citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions are supported. Several fellowships are available for study outside of the U.S.

Alexander von Humboldt Professorship
Description: Academics of all disciplines from abroad, who are internationally recognized as leaders in their field and who are expected to contribute to enhancing Germany's sustained international competitiveness as a research location in consequence of the award, are eligible to be nominated for an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship. The Alexander von Humboldt Professorship, which is being financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research through the International Research Fund for Germany, enables award winners to carry out long-term and ground-breaking research at universities and research institutions in Germany. The prize money, totaling 5 million EUR for academics in experimental disciplines and 3.5 million EUR for researchers in theoretical disciplines, is being made available for a period of five years.

Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellowship
Description: Launched in 1967, the International Affairs Fellowship (IAF) is a distinguished program offered by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) to assist mid-career scholars and professionals in advancing their analytic capabilities and broadening their foreign policy experience. The program aims to strengthen career development by helping outstanding individuals acquire and apply foreign policy skills beyond the scope of their professional and scholarly achievements. CFR awards approximately ten fellowships annually to highly accomplished individuals who have a capacity for independent work and who are eager to undertake serious foreign policy analysis. Approximately half of the selected IAFs each year spend their tenures working full-time in government; the remaining half are placed at academic institutions, think tanks, or non profit organizations. CFR’s Fellowship Affairs Office assists all fellows in finding a suitable affiliation for the year.

East European Studies Summer Research Scholarships
Description: EES offers summer research scholarships to scholars working on policy relevant projects on East Europe. While Southeast Europe remains a primary focus, projects on Central Europe and the Baltic states are again eligible. Projects should focus on fields in the social sciences and humanities including, but not limited to: Anthropology, History, Political Science, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Sociology. Fulbright Scholar Program
Description: The core Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

German Chancellor Fellowship for Prospective Leaders
Description: Submit an application if you are a prospective leader from the USA, the Russian Federation or the People's Republic of China and, having completed your first degree (at least a Bachelor's or comparable degree), have subsequently gained work experience and have already shown outstanding leadership potential in your career. A German Chancellor Fellowship allows you to carry out a project of your own design in cooperation with a German host you have selected. The programme is under the patronage of the German Chancellor and also incorporates an intensive language course in Germany, a four-week introductory seminar in Bonn and Berlin, a study trip around Germany and a final meeting in Berlin. These activities provide additional insights into the social, cultural, economic and political life of Germany. Candidates from all professions and disciplines, but especially individuals in the humanities, law, social sciences and economics, are eligible to apply to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation directly. The Humboldt Foundation grants up to ten German Chancellor Fellowships annually for prospective leaders from each of the three countries named.

Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers
Description: Submit an application if you are a researcher from abroad with above average qualifications, completed your doctorate less than twelve years ago, already have your own research profile and are working at least at the level of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Group Leader or have a record of several years of independent academic work. A Humboldt Research Fellowship for experienced researchers allows you to carry out a long-term research project (6-18 months) you have selected yourself in cooperation with an academic host you have selected yourself at a research institution in Germany. The fellowship is flexible and can be divided up into as many as three stays within three years.

Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers
Description: Submit an application if you are a researcher from abroad with above average qualifications, at the beginning of your academic career and only completed your doctorate in the last four years. A Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers allows you to carry out a long-term research project (6-24 months) you have selected yourself in cooperation with an academic host you have selected yourself at a research institution in Germany. Scientists and scholars of all nationalities and disciplines may apply to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation directly at any time. Description: Founded in 1997, the International Affairs Fellowship in Japan (IAF-J), sponsored by Hitachi, Ltd., seeks to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between the rising generations of leaders in the United States and Japan. The program provides a selected group of mid-career U.S. citizens the opportunity to expand their professional horizons by spending a period of research or other professional activity in Japan. IREX Short-term travel grants
Description: The Short-Term Travel Grants Program (STG) is a flexible fellowship offering support to postdoctoral scholars and professionals to conduct research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia on issues relevant to the US Government.

Jean Monnet Fellowships
Description: The Jean Monnet Fellowship Programme at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) offers yearly between 15 and 20 fellowships to post-docs in an early stage of their academic career. During their stay at the RSCAS, fellows work on a selected topic that fits well in the overall research profile of the RSCAS and they are expected to participate actively in the academic life of the Centre and of the EUI. Each fellow is assigned a professorial mentor. Their stay at the Centre should result in the publication of either a RSCAS Working Paper or a publication in a scientific journal or with an appropriate publishing house. The current core research themes of the RSCAS are: Institutions, Governance, and Democracy; Migration; Economic and Monetary Policy; Competition Policy and Market Regulation; and International and Transnational Relations. Two of the fellowships will be awarded as ‘Vincent Wright Fellowships’, in memory of the distinguished political scientist Vincent Wright. These fellowships are usually awarded to candidates working on European Comparative Politics or European Comparative History.

Postdoctoral Fellowships, University of Western Australia
Description: Departments of the University of Western Australia may apply for a University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. The fellowship scheme is open to all, irrespective of nationality or residence at the time of application. Fellowships are normally awarded to accomplished researchers who have held a Ph.D. for no more than five years. Appointment is for three years (full-time) or four years (75 percent research/25 percent teaching). This year up to three new fellowships will be available.

Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program
Description: English Teaching Assistantships are offered in many countries worldwide.
Each ETA Program is designed by the host country, and individual elements may vary by country.
In most cases, ETAs:
- Are placed in schools or universities outside of capital cities
- Are assigned various activities designed to improve their students' language abilities and knowledge of the United States
- Are fully integrated into the host community, increasing their own language skills and knowledge of the host country
- May pursue individual study/research plans in addition to ETA responsibilities (see Tips for further information on Statement of Purpose for ETAs)
Applicants for English Teaching Assistantships can apply to only one country. Multi-country ETA projects will not be considered.

ICCS Graduate Student Scholarship
Description: Up to ten grants are awarded world-wide to Masters and Doctoral candidates to undertake thesis-related research on Canada at a Canadian university for 4-6 weeks. Description: EMGIP (Émigré Memorial German Internship Program) offers internship opportunities in the German parliament, the Bundestag, for US and Canadian students who are fluent in German. The internships are two months long in positions matching the student’s interest and experience.

Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program
Description: English Teaching Assistantships are offered in many countries worldwide.
Each ETA Program is designed by the host country, and individual elements may vary by country.
In most cases, ETAs:
- Are placed in schools or universities outside of capital cities
- Are assigned various activities designed to improve their students' language abilities and knowledge of the United States
- Are fully integrated into the host community, increasing their own language skills and knowledge of the host country
- May pursue individual study/research plans in addition to ETA responsibilities (see Tips for further information on Statement of Purpose for ETAs)
Applicants for English Teaching Assistantships can apply to only one country. Multi-country ETA projects will not be considered.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program
Description: The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduating seniors, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study abroad for one academic year. The Program also includes an important English Teaching Assistant component.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship
Description: Gates Cambridge Scholarships are awarded to outstanding applicants from outside the UK to pursue a postgraduate degree in any subject at the University of Cambridge.
The programme aims to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

George Mitchell Scholarship Program
Description: The Mitchell Scholars Program, named to honor former US Senator George Mitchell's pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to community and public service. Up to twelve Mitchell Scholars between the ages of 18 and 30 are chosen annually for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Applicants are judged on three criteria: scholarship, leadership, and a sustained commitment to community and public service. The Mitchell Scholars Program provides tuition, accommodations, a living expenses stipend, and an international travel stipend.

Study and Internship (SIP) in Germany
Description: Run jointly by German Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS 7) and DAAD, SIP provides students the opportunity to study for a full semester together with German and international students at one of Germany’s leading universities of applied sciences followed by a six month, hands-on, professional internship experience in a company or research institute. Students in the fields of engineering, computer science, natural sciences, business, management, economics, architecture, art and design, social work, or journalism are welcome to apply.

University Summer Course in Germany
Description: This program, meant to help undergraduates build their language skills while studying anything from film to politics to engineering, provides scholarships to attend a broad range of three- to four week summer courses taught in German at German universities which focus mainly on literary, cultural, political, and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany. Extensive extracurricular programs complement and reinforce the core material.
