What is Airline Churning, and How Does it Affect You?
"Churning" is the repeated cancelling and re-booking of an airline reservation. It also applies to the booking of a reservation on one online site, and then checking fares on other sites for comparison. The airlines are now identifying these double-bookings and cancelling all reservations.
o Each time you hold reservation, even on an unrelated airline website, the airline views each as a double-booking
o With the advent of Secure Traveler, there is no longer any doubt of your identity, and double-bookings are easier to catch by the airlines.
In addition to cancelling reservations, some airlines are now assessing a fine of $50.00 for holding double reservations. Don't let this happen to you!
