Blanket Purchase Orders
Blanket purchase orders are issued to vendors for expendable supplies and services where the unit price (up to $2,000 per transaction) of the item(s) or service(s) has been established by agreement or bid. They may also be used for such items as machine parts of specific manufacture. (Example: laundry equipment, where exact requirements are unknown at the time the order is placed, but when failure of parts occur, they can be ordered with a minimum of delay.) Blanket orders may not be used for the purchase of capital equipment.
A Blanket Order Release form (sample below) must be completed for each release against an order. Blanket orders are typically issued for a period of one year. It is preferred that your purchase requirements call for at least 6 releases per month to be made in order to establish a blanket order.
