Purchasing Services Sits on ERAC Panel
Facilities’ Pat Chase and Gary Falasca, and University Business Services’ Jane Altemose discussed Purchasing, Contracting and Sustainability in ERAC’s latest “lunch and learn” on April 18. ERAC stands for Employee Relations Advisory Committee, and Brenda Bachman of UBS is a member of this committee and helped to plan the event.
Falasca covered what the Facilities Department is responsible for, including new initiatives, maintenance, athletics preparation, snow removal, custodians, and waste removal. Lehigh does not put any waste into a landfill – everything goes either to the Rodale compost, a recycling center or an energy plant in Conshohocken.
Chase then discussed how the Facilities Department can act as an in house architect and construction manager, and also handles renovations and space management on campus.
Finally, UBS’s Altemose spoke about how she supports the Facilities Department by guiding them to the right vendor pool and selection processes. Altemose also discussed the sustainability focus of our vendor process, and the 32 Master Service Agreements she has implemented on campus that make new projects and negotiations easier to get started.
