The Thompson International Portfolio currently has exposure to 12 mature markets equity funds, 8 emerging markets equity funds, 3 benchmark indices, and one global fixed income fund. The portfolio provides the opportunity for students at Lehigh University to gain valuable experience in managing an international portfolio. It has demonstrated the benefits of international global diversification. Since its inception, the portfolio has successfully weathered five major corrections in the global equity markets that have adversely affected markets worldwide:
- Mexico Peso Crisis in 1994
- The Asian Crisis in 1997 - 1998
- The Russian Debt Default of 1998
- The Devaluation of the Brazilian Real in 1999
- The Argentina Crisis in 2001
- The Terrorist Attacks of Sept. 11th, 2001
